ABOUT

Our Mission

To bring together families, early years services, and community providers across Nottingham through a connected network of support, activity, and recognition.
NBT Connect exists to strengthen early years development and family wellbeing by making it easier to access local opportunities, build meaningful connections, and celebrate the people and organisations supporting children aged 0–5.

Our Aim

The aim of NBT Connect Events is to be affordable, multifaceted, accessible, and diverse—ensuring we reach and support a wide range of families, providers, and small businesses across Nottingham.

About me

Hey! I’m Rebekah, founder and creator of Nottingham Baby & Toddler Groups and Events, now part of NBT Connect.

Alongside working full time and being a mum to two little ones, I’ve built and grown these platforms to help parents, carers, and small business owners across Nottingham connect and feel part of a welcoming, supportive community.

This isn’t something I do for social media attention, free classes, or financial gain. I do it because I genuinely believe in the value of community-led early years support. I’m passionate about helping local family activity providers thrive, and I know the difference this makes—not only to parents, but to children’s wellbeing, development, and early experiences too.

The Nottingham Baby & Toddler Groups page originally began as a Facebook group during 2020, in a period of uncertainty and isolation. After making the difficult decision to permanently close my own baby and toddler classes, and navigating a challenging lockdown pregnancy, I created the group to find support and connection—but also to help keep local baby and toddler groups and communities visible and connected during a time when many were struggling to stay open and engaged online.

What started as a small support space has grown into something much bigger, and NBT Connect continues that same purpose: bringing people together, strengthening communities, and supporting families across Nottingham.

How its going

This community is still very active across Facebook and Instagram, and has grown to support over 6,200 families. It now acts as a central online hub for Nottingham parents of babies and toddlers to find local classes, groups, workshops, and services. It also provides a platform for session leaders, practitioners, and small business owners to connect with families and share what they offer across the city.

In summer 2022, I launched the first face-to-face Nottingham Baby & Toddler Events, which have continued to grow from strength to strength. This led to the development of the Nottingham Baby & Toddler Community Events Tour, which expanded to 7 stops and brought families together across the city in accessible, community-led spaces.

Alongside these, we have also hosted a wide range of seasonal events, including Christmas, Halloween, and Easter celebrations—each designed to bring families together and create accessible, fun experiences throughout the year.

In 2023, we also launched Nottingham’s first Daddy Day event, a dedicated space for fathers and male carers to connect and enjoy quality time with their children. This unique event has been incredibly well received and has welcomed special guests including Dadvengers and CBeebies presenter Nigel Clarke, helping to shine a spotlight on the importance of fatherhood and inclusive family support.

In 2023, I introduced the NBT Awards, which have now run successfully across multiple years. Most recently, in 2025, we hosted our second awards event, celebrating 12 winners and shining a spotlight on over 100 providers across Nottingham who are making a real difference to families and early years communities.

We also celebrated 5 years of NBT Fest last year, welcoming thousands of families from across Nottingham and working alongside over 60 providers and vendors. It was a fantastic celebration of everything the community stands for—connection, support, and opportunity for families and local businesses alike.

Alongside this, I have been proud to support wider UK early years and small business communities, including organisations such as Club Hub UK and the Class Business Awards, through judging and attending sector events. Being part of this wider network has been incredibly valuable, and it continues to inspire the work I do locally. Over the years, I have also been honoured to be nominated for community awards such as the Black Achievers Awards and Sherwood Spirit Awards, recognising the impact of this work within the community.

I have also been invited to feature in podcasts, radio discussions, talks, and panel events, contributing to wider national conversations around family support, early years provision, and community development. This has included involvement in campaigns and awareness work such as Push for Paternity and Black Baby Loss Awareness Week, helping to highlight important issues affecting families across the UK.

NBT Connect is the natural next step in this journey. It brings everything together under one clear identity and will create even more opportunities to support Nottingham and surrounding areas—strengthening connections between families, providers, and communities at every level.
